WITH ADDED COCONUT OIL / MCT
Vitamin D is a special vitamin. It is the only vitamin that is produced in the body when exposed to UVB-rays. This is why when the days are short and the nights are long and a lot of people leave home and return in the dark, vitamin D deficiencies are quick to occur.
For a long time, it was thought that vitamin D was only important in maintaining healthy and strong bones, which is why it was mainly prescribed to babies to prevent or treat rickets. In the last decade, scientists have been realising that vitamin D deficiencies are linked to various other diseases as well. The number of studies on other vitamins remains much the same while the number of studies on the benefits of vitamin D has tripled in the past few years. In 2010, 1142 studies were carried out. In 2012, the number jumped to 3877. It seems that the ‘sun vitamin’ has become the single most important vitamin under the sun. A lot of us do not spend much time in the sun as winters are too cold and summers too hot. We also wear sunscreen which hinder the natural conversion of UVB-rays. Another reason for vitamin D deficiencies is a lack of vitamin D-rich foods in our diet.
We cannot get enough vitamin D through food only. Foods rich with vitamin D are fatty fish from Northern seas and egg yolks. To consume appropriate amounts of vitamin D, we would have to eat a big piece of salmon every day, which is practically impossible. This is where dietary supplements come in.
Vitamin D is water-soluble, which is why it needs a source of fat to be absorbed fully. Its half-life is 14 days, which means higher dosages are meant to only be taken once a week (or every 4 days). Vitamin D absorption from dietary supplements thus increases by 50 % if we ingest it together with a quality source of fat necessary for its absorption. Vitamin D is transported from the intestines through the lymph system. The absorption rate is thus over 80 %.
The market offers many different manufacturers of vitamin D in the form of dietary supplements for adults and for children (in the form of drops). Most companies offering vitamin D drops use natural vegetable oils (soy, olive, corn, or coconut) as the medium in which the substance (vitamin D) is dissolved. Other companies dissolve the vitamin in water, using several stabilizers and preservatives. Absorption and bioavailability are better when a quality source of fat without added preservatives is used in combination with the vitamin.
Vitamin D:
- contributes to normal absorption / use calcium and phosphorus,
- contributes to the normal level of calcium in the blood,
- contributes to the preservation of healthy bones and teeth,
- contributes to the functioning of muscles,
- contributes to the functioning of the immune system,
- plays a role in the distribution of cells.
VONpharma vitamin D is derived from the world’s best lanolin, which is a rich and renewable source of vitamin D. Vitamin D capsules allow for easier consumption and a high level of absorption. The capsule filler is made from the best quality coconut oil with a high MTC (Medium chain triglycerides) content, thus ensuring the highest level of bioavailability and absorption. The product is formulated exclusively from natural sources (lanolin) without preservatives and is pharmaceutically tested.
It is important to note that vitamin D is oil-soluble and cannot be absorbed by the body without oil. Coconut oil ensures that the vitamin lasts longer, as it acts as a natural preservative and, even more importantly, further encourages vitamin D absorption.
Lanolin is obtained from sheep wool. The product is a testament to VONpharma’s pursuit in acquiring the purest natural sources with the highest degree of bioavailability.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which is why a fat source (coconut oil) is needed for optimal absorption. Consequentially, its half-life is 14 days. The vitamin should only be taken once a week (or once every 4 days) to meet the needs for the vitamin without worrying about deficiencies.
INGREDIENTS: Medium chain triglycerides, filler (microcrystalline cellulose), cholecalciferol, anti-caking agents (magnesium salts of plant derived fatty acids, silicon dioxide), capsule shell (gelatine), colorants (titanium dioxide and iron oxide).
